The old townhall in Mainz-Bretzenheim counts nearly 450 years now \u2013 indeed a historical, venerable Building, that would eventually tell us some good stories \u2013 if only it could speak. Another episode would be added now, about paintings, music and people \u2013 the little story about my Vernissage on Friday, September 9th 2016. If the old Building would have liked this evening? Well, it cannot speak, and so we will never know.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I received some good positive echoes by the visitors coming to see my paintings on this nice late summer evening. I had followed\u00a0 gladly an invitation of \u201eKunst im Rathaus Bretzenheim (KiR) = Art in the old townhall\u201d to show my work in this wonderful old building in the capital of our federal state. Mr Christoph Selenka, member and initiator of K.i.R \u201cbumped\u201d into my Christmas market presentation in Neuleiningen last year and invited me to come to Mainz. Thus, the vernissage and following exhibition with the motto “Farb(t)raeume” resulted. Farb(t)raeume is a play on the words Farbe = Colour and Traeume = Dreams. If we cut the “T” in Traeume we would get Raeume = Rooms.<\/p>\n

After the welcome speech\u00a0 of Mrs. Siebner, mayoress of Bretzenheim, Mr Selenka introduced\u00a0 me and my work very explicitly and cordially. He nearly anticipated my Brother Simon\u00b4s Laudatio, who excellently sharped the audience\u00b4s focus for the paintings in his speech.<\/p>\n

In between, four young musicians performed the musical framing for the vernissage:\u00a0Katharina Bengel (Violin), Ilka Martin (Piano), Lasse Schraut (Violin) and Henrik Wietzke (Drums). The young students of LeiningerLand music school, together with their teacher and principal Mr. Richard Martin, just had won a price at a Kiwani’s Club challenge a couple of weeks ago. This evening they enthused the audience with their interpretation of \u201eLight of Seven\u201c und \u201eViva la Vida\u201c and received resounding applause.<\/p>\n

After that, with a glass of good secco and a some goodies we had some good conversations and I had to answer some interested questions. It was a nice mild late summer night, so it was not necessarily the best choice to stay indoors. Despite this, a lot of guests stood till late, the more as they had the possibility to chat about the event outside on the nice little forecourt.<\/p>\n

The paintings will remain in the old townhall\u00a0 in Bretzenheim, An der Wied 2 , until October.<\/p>\n
